Search, sort and filter data in grids

The RC-Reporter interface provides many tools to help you navigate and manage long lists of points, users, and reports that appear in grids on pages and in dialog boxes.

Note: Most column headings in grids are clickable to sort the page content in ascending or descending order. By default, the first column in grids is sorted in ascending order.

Use the Search bar on a page to search, filter and sort the contents in a grid:

Searching

Enter the text to search in the Search box and then click the magnifying glass icon to open a list of searchable columns. Select the column to search and the grid refreshes to show only the rows that contain that text. After a search has been run, click clear to remove the search filter and display all available rows.

Filtering

Click the down arrow in the filter boxes to display a list of criteria to use for filtering. Click an item in the list and then click outside the active box to refresh the grid to show only the rows that match the filter criteria.

  • Click clear all to remove the filter criteria applied to the grid.
  • Click a label within a column (such as Samples) to filter the grid using the label name as the filter criteria. Category labels appear with an x in the right corner. Clicking the x removes the association of the row item (user or report) to the category.

Sorting

Click a column header to sort the column alphabetically or by number. Click the header a second time to reverse the sort order.

Editing

Text that can be edited appears with a dotted line underneath. Click the text to update it.

Selecting

Click the check box to the left of a row to select the row. Once the row is selected, you can further modify it, for example, by clicking Batch Actions.

Select All selects all rows in the current grid.

Modifying, adding, and deleting

Click the Add icon to add a new row, or duplicate a row in a grid. To delete one or more rows of data, select the check box for the rows and click Batch Actions > Delete Selected.

Paging

The Paging bar shows the total number of items in the grid and indicates how many are currently displayed.

Select the number of items to include on the page. The more items you choose to display, the greater the time required to load the page.

Use the Paging control to move to the next, previous, first and last pages of the grid. You can also enter a specific page number to open a specific page.
