Updating licenses

A Reliable Controls soft license or RC-Key contains modifiable attributes such as subscription end date, and customer name. When license attributes are changed for an online workstation, RC-LicenseManager automatically updates the RC-Key or soft license with the latest information from the Reliable Controls license server. For offline workstations, you must transfer the license file to the workstation and open it using RC-LicenseManager to update your RC-Reporter software license.

Note: To update license attributes for an RC-Key, the RC-Key must be plugged into the workstation running RC-LicenseManager.

Use the following steps to update a soft license without an Internet connection:

1. Save the license file (.lf file extension) to a location that your offline workstation can access.
2. Open RC-LicenseManager.
3. In the Installed Licenses pane, right-click on the soft license node. Click Update License.
4. Navigate to and select the license file.
5. Click Open. The license updates immediately.
