Additional SSL considerations

Note the following when obtaining and configuring SSL certificates and when running RC-Reporter as a secure application:

  • When obtaining an SSL certificate, ensure that the certificate accepts requests from the hostname of the web server and from the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the server, and that each accept requests that include a port number in the URL.
  • If the server is not on a domain then the FQDN is not required for the allowed dnsnames when generating the certificate.
  • If a DNS Name entry is missing in your SSL certificate, that is, you have an entry for the hostname but not an entry for the hostname with the port appended to the name, or your bindings are set incorrectly, then the export as PDF function and the distribution of reports configured on distribution schedules will not be successful.
